What we offer.
SYB Classes
Here at the Sunrise Youth Bureau we offer an array of classes that focus on fostering positive changes in the youth. We offer classes on things such as anger management, self-esteem, shoplifting, theft/stealing, tobacco, and more.
Classes can be in offered in a small group setting or one on one. There is a small $25 fee for the class but this fee can be waived if the family is having financial difficulty.
Classes are about 1-hour long. Referrals can be made through Sunrise Youth Bureau Youth Advisor, Juvenile Court, School, Human Service Social Worker, Parent, or Another Agency
Diversion Intervention
The Sunrise Youth Bureau Diversion program provides an opportunity for youth to avoid a hearing in juvenile court. The purpose is to keep youth from entering the juvenile justice system, while still being held accountable for their actions. The Sunrise Youth Bureau is able to provide programming and supervision to the youth, while being a support system to the youth and their family
Education Awareness
Sunrise Youth Bureau offers prevention and educational presentations to the schools in SW North Dakota. These presentations include stories, movies, and hands-on activities. Topics covered may include bullying and teasing, anger management, respect & rules, and many more. You can call or email our Youth Educator to schedule.
Out of School Suspension
The out-of-school suspension program is intended for students who have been suspended or expelled from school. This is an alternative to at-home suspensions or in-school suspensions and will require students to complete the work they are given. Students are exposed to educational materials that relate to a specific at-risk behavior a student may have. They spend their normal school hours here at the Sunrise Youth Bureau.
Attendant Care
Attendant care is the constant supervision of a juvenile by a trained attendant in a non-physical secure setting. Attendant care is designed for juveniles who are inappropriate for shelter care or because the behavior warrants greater structure. Youth are housed at the bureau anywhere from a few hours to several days.
